About Me

My photo
I would say that I am curious, vivacious, gregarious, sometimes funny, intelligent, easy going, very passionate about the things I love, caring, thoughtful, and kind. Maybe that is a little over the top, but I think you can count on me to be very honest. LOL

Lunch at Pizza Factory

The day after Thanksgiving.............Turkey Sandwiches right? Oh no.......we went to Pizza Factory for lunch. The kids loved it! R will eat just about anything, even licks the plate clean, if you let him. The twisted bread sticks were a huge hit. J, of course, didn't want one until they came to the table. All 3 cleaned the stick! They looked so fun I decided I better be finding the recipe for this one and sure enough we did it! I found this recipe this afternoon and they taste so similar to the ones they serve at Pizza Factory..you'll love them just as much as we did!
Enjoy!

Ingredients
1 1/2 c. warm (105-115 degrees) water
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
3-4 1/2 c. flour

In a large bowl (the bowl of your mixer, if you have one), combine water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes or until yeast is bubbly. Add salt and stir.

Add 1 1/2 c. flour and mix well. Gradually add more flour (usually between 3-4 cups, depending on your elevation and your humidity) until dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl and it barely sticks to your finger. Spray a glass or metal bowl with cooking spray and place dough in the bowl.

Cover and allow to rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk.
Remove from bowl and place on a lightly-floured surface. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Roll into a rectangle and cut into 12 strips with a pizza cutter.

Roll out each piece of dough into a snake and then drape over your forefinger and twist the dough. Place on baking sheet and repeat with remaining 11 pieces of dough. Try to space them evenly, but it's okay if they're close.

Cover pan and allow dough to rise for another 30 minutes.

When there's about 15 minutes to go, preheat your oven to 425. When done rising, bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Rub some butter on top of the bread sticks (just put a Ziploc bag on your hand, grab some softened butter, and have at it) and sprinkle with powdery Parmesan cheese in a can and garlic salt. Or you could sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar..

Thanksgiving Is..........

...a time of gratitude to God,
our Creator and Provider,
whose guidance and care
go before us...and whose love
is with us forever.

Thanksgiving is a time
to reflect on the changes,
to remember that we,
too, grow and change
from one season of life to another.

Thanksgiving is a time
of changing seasons,
when leaves turn golden in Autumn's wake
and apples are crisp
in the first chill breezes of fall.

Let us remember the true meaning
of Thanksgiving.
As we see the beauty
of Autumn, let us acknowledge
the many blessings
which are ours...
let us think of our families
and friends..and let us give thanks in our hearts.
~ Author Unknown ~
Let us also laugh........because laughter is.......
good for your heart,
"A merry heart doth good like a medicine,
but a broken spirit drieth the bones."
When we laugh, there is an actual chemical change in our bodies that helps to ease pain and release stress. Laughter is our coping mechanism for the normal stress of life.

This year we are spending Thanksgiving Day at home.....next year I hope to be driving up a very beautiful canyon, to a very beautiful cabin that I am so very blessed to be a part of.

Of course, if it looked like this today, there would be a bunch of family and friends sharing Thanksgiving Dinner. Because of our many blessings from our Heavenly Father, we all know that we will be sharing food and laughter there next year.
Happy Thanksgiving to my friends and family.
I love all of you dearly!

Oh No....It's the Junk Drawer

The junk drawer is home to unmade decisions, and I have way to many of them....it is destroying my Zen...........maybe I just don't have any Zen! Oh what a disappointment

Zentonym: [zen-tuh-nim] noun: Something which disturbs the Zen-like quality of ones surroundings, by emitting a loud noise or attitude, or by displaying a cool, unfriendly demeanor.

My junk drawer grows and grows until it eventually becomes a catch-all for everything in its vicinity. Before too long, one junk drawer overflows into another, and then I find myself going from drawer to drawer looking for a postage stamp. (Finally had to go to DH's office to get one yesterday!) It is unbelievable what I found in my Junk Drawer today....an old Sony Walkman, Spools of thread with needles in them, sealing wax (oh I love my sealing wax).....the stamp was even with it....how long has it been since I used that....! My very good scissors are actually in my junk drawer and they are even in their ceramic holder! Hmmm so many other treasures.....what's a girl to do? I’ve done the “dump and sort” thing before and it all comes back… I swear the clutter breeds or something! So I'm taking the attitude that "STOP FIGHTING IT......IT IS WHAT IT IS!"

Thanksgiving Songs

Christmas Music is already playing at the local Walmart - I'm thinking Thanksgiving really gets left out in the music department. So lets make a list of all the Thanksgiving songs we can think of.....
1. Over the River and Through the Woods...#1

2. Be Thankful - Natalie Cole

3. The Thanksgiving Song - Adam Sandler

4. Turkey Tango.....probably have to be a 3rd grader to know this one.

5. Turkey Trot - Little Eva

6. Thankful - Josh Groban....BFF Nancy added this one!

7. Because I Have Been Given Much ~ BFF's DD Jen added this one!

Okay - Help me out here....what is your favorite Thanksgiving song?

Cabin in November

Had to change my header when Jason posted this beautiful picture of their cabin.......Can't wait to spend days, weeks, months....there!

Twilight ~ Who hasn't heard of it? ~~

Twilight, at least for a select group of young ladies, has been the most anticipated movie of 2008 - and their wait was finally over this weekend. The question is: Was it worth it and did I really just go see this movie? 70 million take for the weekend! Wow

I had no idea that I would be seeing the movie this weekend. Two movies in two days has got to be a record for me.

So Twilight……… I thought that the stars and supporting cast actually did a really great job. Bella’s friends were delightful, funny and they played their roles very naturally.

Billy Burke was great as Bella’s father, Kristen Stewart did a superb job, and I have to say that despite his severely sculpted eyebrows and urban-funky hair, I thought Rob Pattinson’s portrayal of Edward Cullen was awesome. His power was really quit charming.

There were quite a few moments of unexpected humor
in the film that I enjoyed, nothing huge or slap sticky,
but just little things that were enough to actually make me laugh.

My favorite ----

“You’re mood swings are
actually giving me Whip-lash”

Oh yes........A Baseball Game.......Nice~!

And a high school cafeteria! Who could ask for anything more?
Oh there was more, tree climbing, flying and yes beautiful scenery!
Pretty entertaining!

Forever Strong

Wondering where I have been and why I didn't know about this amazing "TEAM"....Highland Rugby????
They are the top high school rugby club in the nation.

With 17 national championships and a 367-9 record, the Highland Rugby Club of Salt Lake City, Utah should have been on my "I know about this......list!"
They’ve only lost nine games in the last 30 years!
That is some record!........So I go to see the movie and ........
there is some serious suffering on my part......I don't like to see people getting smashed, beat-up, or die! No the star doesn't die....but the cute ....oh I can't give it away!
However, I must say it is a movie that will be added to my collection, because the message is so valuable on so many levels. Filmed in SLC and based on a true story, "Forever Strong" highlights the journey of Coach Larry Gelwix (Gary Cole) and the brotherhood of his rugby team. The season gets a twist when Rick Penning (Sean Faris), the hot-headed star of a rival team, comes to town to serve a sentence for a DUI. Mentored by Coach Gelwix and his case worker Marcus (Sean Astin), Penning has a change of heart and focuses his efforts towards his new family.
There are a few unanswered questions .....how does a kid like Rick (from AZ end up at a detention center in SLC??) and how lucky is it that he gets to play for Highland High??? WHATEVER...... still loved the movie!

Tagged.....

I was tagged by Jaydee from http://lifeinthelostworld.blogspot.com/ to do this cute little meme. I haven't been very good about blogging since TIME CHANGE SUNDAY.... so I guess this is as good as anything that I haven't posted about.. Here's the rules:

1. link to the person who tagged you.
2. post the rules on your blog.
3. write six random things about yourself.
4. tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog
6. let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Here goes, six random things about me:

1. I have taught school for 30 years, this year will be my last year in the classroom! I'll miss the kids!

2. I take my own pillow with me when I go on vacation..........I can't deal with hotel pillows!

3. Saltine crackers and milk is my favorite bedtime snack! Yummy, in fact I need to go get some this very minute! BRB

4. I'm an only child and I'm not spoiled, aggressive, bossy, lonely, or maladjusted.

5. My friend Nancy just told me that I am a Chestnut Tree in the Celtic Astrology. The Chestnut tree is the tree of honesty. People born under this sign are bubbly and diplomatic, but may lack self-confidence and feel misunderstood. Oh for sure! That's me!

6. I listen to talk radio with earplugs all night long. Oh I'm a strange creature!

Here are the six lucky friends and relatives I'm tagging.............

Welcome Back My Glorious Missing Hour

Time is on my side - Yes it is....thank you Rolling Stones... You got it right!
This weekend is the sweetest time of the year for yours truly. Early Sunday morning at 2:00 a.m., I will “fall back” into standard time, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST) for 2008—and the beginning of a much-needed extra hour of sleep.
There are of course plenty of pros and cons over this blessed event...I posted them back in the spring. The only real pro for DST .....is Baseball season will begin again!

The Day After Halloween

I got this great joke from Blondsherry....it just about says it all! Not that I need an Anger Management Support Group.....but!

The party was great, everyone seemed to have a blast.

But the camera.....I left the battery in the recharge plug AT HOME!

So this will have to do for this years pictures. Jason actually got some great ones, if I find a little time I'll post a few now and then.

Have a great day! Really!
