Relationships

The relationships we have with other people are projections of the relationships we have within ourselves. Our external relationships and our internal relationships are in fact the same relationships. They only seem different because we look at them through different lenses.

All your relationships exist in your thoughts. Your relationship with another person is whatever you imagine it to be. Whether you love someone or hate someone, you’re right.

Now the other person may have a completely different relationship to you, but understand that your representation of what someone else thinks of you is also part of your thoughts.

So your relationship with someone includes what you think of that person and what you believe he or she thinks of you.

Bringing Home the Goods

I love going to farmer's markets and we are so lucky to have such a great one very close to us in Ogden. It is open from 8:00 - 12:00 every Saturday during the growing season. There is a great selection of flowers, fruit and vegetables, baked goods, and delicious cheeses, and lots of other stuff, it is impossible to resist.

Here is the picture of what I brought home today, the zucchini, tomatoes, and 1 cucumber came from my very own garden.

I got 3 flavors of salsa, 3 raspberry jams, beets, yellow squash, strawberries, and Great Harvest Bread. YMMMM!

Summer Swimming

We have had so much fun swimming, reading, going to lunch, watching videos and sleeping (after 11:00 at night). Aren't grandkids the best!

These picture were taken in Nancy's backyard pool. Lots of splashing!

Grilled Shrimp and Spinach Salad

Grilled Shrimp and Spinach Salad

1 Envelope ranch salad -dressing mix
1/2 c Water
2 tb Balsamic vinegar
2 tb Bacon bits
1 tb Brown sugar
In a screw-top jar, combine dressing mix, water, vinegar, bacon bits, and brown sugar. Cover and shake well.

Serve on baby spinach topped with, grilled red peppers, grilled shrimp, almonds, and caramelized onions.

DELICIOUS!

Treasure Thursday

When I was young, a game that I use to love to play with my neighborhood friends was called hide and seek. I would love to go somewhere that I thought no one could find me. Once at that place, I would watch everyone run around trying to figure out where I had hidden. This would go on for several minutes. Eventually, someone would look in my favorite place and the game would be over.

Oh for those days of hide and seek. It was a game that could last mere seconds to countless minutes. To me, hide and seek was like a treasure. Once I ran to hide, I was hidden away from those who were suppose to find me. It was during that time that I would sit and think about how important it would be for my friends to find me and I loved it when they did.

Although those days have long since passed, I still think about those great hiding places that resembled the treasures of our youth. I can vision my hiding place to this day, it was a deep closet inside a bedroom that was big enough for me to fit into. It wasn't a closet for clothing, but one into the wall, deep enough for me to climb into! (Oh for those days of being able to fit into a closet....lol.)

The relationships I have had with friends over the years are certainly a treasure. Friendships are a place where love exists more than things, where love matters more than our titles, our jobs, and our possessions. Friendships make my treasure chest full!

Whatever we do, ... we should stop for a few minutes, as often as possible, and praise God from the depths of our hearts, to enjoy Him there in secret. Since we believe that God is always with us, no matter what we may be doing, why can't we stop for awhile to adore Him, to praise Him, to pray to Him, to offer Him our hearts, and to thank Him?

Loafer Canyon is one of those places that can make you stop and realize how serene, peaceful and beauitful the world around us is.

Monday Moments

At the Artesian Well - July 16, 2007

Have you often thought about how many people you see in one day that you have never seen before? Every time I go to the mall, grocery store, Wal-Mart (class of it's own), movie..I see someone I have probably never seen before in my life. On a few occasions I run into someone I know and we have a nice visit, but for most of my shopping, errand runs, etc. I rarely have that happen.

Today I had my 2 of my grand kids with me. We made our plans for the day which included

* One load of laundry before 5:30 AM

* 4 loaves of Zucchini bread by 7:00 AM

* Bath time at 7:30 AM with a story read to them while bathing "But No Elephants"

* Breakfast - one wanted scrambled eggs, one wanted pancakes...they got what they wanted!

* Sesame Street - which I tried to make myself presentable for the day.

* Off to the grocery store to get the makings for stew for dinner. In the story "But No Elephants" Grandma Tildy was making stew. Yes, it is 100 degrees, but a slow cooker doesn't create that much heat in the house.

* To the library to get a grundle of books for the rest of the week.

* A trip with Ali to take the Colors of Success van to the district safe lot.

* Lunch on the run from KFC

* Artesian Well in North Ogden - which brings me back to running into people you know

I told Ali as we drove around the corner, "That looks like Nancy's grand kids." She said, "Why would Nancy's grand kids be at the well?" But sure enough there we were, there they were - Same Time / Same Place what a nice chance meeting.

Here Come the Zucchini

One never knows exactly how many zucchini plants to PLANT...so this year my decision was 4! Ali has decided that they are a good thing to eat, which makes me happy and excited that I planted so many. So this was the harvest for the weekend. From the 6 zucchinis pictured here, we have had fried, steamed and zucchini bread..and I think there is one left...with about 6 more ready to pick from the garden. Tomatoes and cucumbers are doing their best to produce one or two a day. Drop by if you would like a zucchini!

We enjoyed a great feast with Jason, Julie, Halie, Brevin, Ali, Sierra, Grandma and Grandpa Buffo..(we would be Al and myself). Jason cooks on his new Traeger as often as we ask him to. BC Party

It was a fantastic sunny Saturday and warm is a word the definitely describes 100 degree here today! You also know what that means, we fired up the grill and Nancy, Dave, their kids, and the neighbors dusted off the patio furniture, set out tables, made shade tents and we had a BC party. Food galore and lots of people, at least 60! Anyway, I think the BC Party was a screaming success.

We missed Nina and James, and our thoughts and prayers are with Douglas and your family. There were a few family members who had other plans today, we understand, but we still missed you!

I snapped lots of pictures, which I will put into a slide show so you can find yourself. If I missed you – I’m very sorry. I was probably protecting the camera from all the water balloons.

If we took a roll call of all the helpers we would include every one of you. Thank you for indulging your mothers, and wives by making an appearance at the shindig! We love you all very much!

An Attempt At Being Crafty with Lavender!

It is growing everywhere, comes up in the rock patio, lines the entire flowerbed....but why won't it grow for me?

It was Lavender Day's in Mona, Utah this past weekend. My parents took my son, daughter-in-law and grandkids to the Young Living Farm last year and they loved it. This year everyone was to busy to make the trip, but I spent some time studying up on lavender. Jason has taken lots of pictures of the lavender patch growing in my parent's backyard, and I am very jealous that I just can't seem to make it grow.

I'm giving it another try, so today I bought English Lavender(Lavandula Violet Intrigue). This is supposedly the most hearty variety and grows well in Utah. I snatched a few stems after planting and made a lavender wand. My hands smell heavenly and and the aroma will soon fill my lingerie draw.

TRAVEL TUESDAY - today I took a trip back in time and found this interesting bit of information. Wow, this would be a teaching miracle for my 3rd graders.

"CUNEIFORM"

Sumerians created cuneiforms script over 5000 years ago. It was the world's first written language. The last known cuneiform was written in 75 AD. This writing system, involved the use of a wedge-shaped reed stylus to make impressions in clay. The picture above is suppose to be what my monogram would look like in Cuneiform.

Happy Birthday Mom

My mom, has had a great impact on my life. Her heart and determination are something that I can only hope to have myself one day.She has taught me the most important thing in life - never give up on your dreams. I thank her dearly for helping me become who I am today. I would have never made it as far as I have without her help.
Happy Birthday Mom/Grandma/Greatgrandma.

Dad/Grandpa has worked with much dedication to complete this beautiful art piece. We will appreciate and enjoy it for many years to come.

We tried to keep them corralled for most of the game, but during the 2nd inning Elian Herra collided with Idaho Falls Chukars designated hitter Rubi Koko. It was very tense seeing him lie motionless on the infield for twenty minutes.He was taken out on a stretcher with a smile as the crowded gave him a standing ovation. I talked with his host family this afternoon, they said he seems to be doing fine and is back at the ballpark
....hoping to get more playing time.


Al moved to the back row 2 years ago...I joined him this year and I love it. Al still roams the park sitting here, there, and everywhere!
